Education 83ECO 600 Studies in Economics Education (3) Designed forsecondary schoolteachers, this course examines selectedthemes in economics education. Content and title will vary.May be repeated if topic and title are different.ECO 650 Managerial Economics (3) Prerequisites: CBKEconomics or ECO 501. See MBA section. Application ofmicroeconomic theories in private and public managerialdecision-making including an analysis of market structureand its effect on price and output determination. Thecourse incorporates a global perspective and estimation ofeconometric models for business, government and nonprofitorganizations.Educated Perspective Seminar (EPS)Objectives: Educated Perspective Seminar courses aredesigned to help students to conceptualize the integrationof disciplines within the liberal arts perspective. Theyutilize the knowledge and skills emphasized in the GeneralEducation program. Seminars will help students 1) expandcommunication skills, 2) develop further competence ininvestigative processes, 3) increase awareness in humanunderstanding by examining topics from a variety ofperspectives, and 4) enhance awareness of one’s role in society.Education (EDU)Educational Foundations & Leadership DepartmentSchool of Education & CounselingBrandenburg Education BuildingObjectives: <strong>Wayne</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> prepares candidatesfor certification in Special Education-MMH, Early ChildhoodEducation Unified, Elementary Education, Middle GradesEducation, and Secondary Education, as well as othersupplemental endorsements (see Teaching Programs inUndergraduate Studies section of General Information).Undergraduate students preparing to teach in secondaryschools must elect a field endorsement or two subjectendorsements (except that students may graduate with a singlesubject endorsement in English Education) in addition tocoursework in General Education and Professional Education.Undergraduate students preparing to teach in earlychildhood, the elementary grades, or middle levels must obtainthe field endorsement in addition to the required GeneralEducation and Professional Education coursework.Students preparing for K-12 endorsement in art, healthand physical education, music, or special education-mildly/moderately handicapped must also complete student teaching atboth levels as well as the General Education and ProfessionalEducation requirements.Undergraduate students preparing for endorsement intwo subjects at different instructional levels, e.g. PhysicalEducation K-6 and Biology 7-12, must also complete studentteaching at both levels as well as the General Education andProfessional Education requirements.Graduate students preparing for initial certificationmay select from either subject or field endorsementsor a combination thereof, but must declare at least oneendorsement. Studentsfrom a variety of majors will come together bringing theperspectives advanced in their majors to the discussionsand assignments. When no duplication of topic exists, thiscourse may be repeated for additional credit. Copies of programmatic Gateways,with benchmarks, are available in the Office of the Dean ofEducation & Counseling or on the website.Gateway #1The first of four Gateways consists of the followingbenchmarks that must be accomplished:1. Completion of a notarized affirmation form as requiredby Rules 20 and 21. This rule requires affirmation thatno convictions for felonies or misdemeanors involvingmoral turpitude exist. This form must be filed in the FieldExperience Office; ANY further convictions must bebrought to the attention of the Field Experience Officeimmediately after being convicted.2. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.3. Completion of CNA 100, Principles of HumanCommunication, with a grade of C or better.4. Completion of ENG 102, Composition Skills, with a gradeof C or better.5. Completion of EDU 201, Introduction to ProfessionalEducation, with a grade of C or better.6. Receive favorable recommendations from classroomteachers in field assignment (EDU 201).
