Emphasizes the analysis of accountinginformation. Examines the information developed inaccounting systems and how this information is utilized inthe decision-making process.BUS 344 Financial Accounting and Analysis (3) Prerequisites:BUS 241 and Junior Standing. Further study of accountingmeasurement and reporting practices underlying financialstatements. Topics include measurement and reporting offinancial statements’ components, usefulness and limitationsof financial statements, adjustment of financial statementsto enhance their economic content for analysis, proceduresfor analysis, use of financial disclosures in analysis, andinterpretation of analysis results.BUS 347 External Financial Reporting (3) Prerequisites: BUS241 and Junior Standing. Indepth study of accountingtheory and practice with particular emphasis on reportingvia the four financial statements. Extensive coverage ofthe statement of cash flows as well as reporting for cash;receivables; inventories; property, plant, and equipment;and intangibles. Includes an introduction to accountingstandards research and an introduction to internationalaccounting standards.BUS 348 External Financial Reporting Standards (3)Prerequisite: BUS 347. Indepth study of accounting theoryand practice with particular emphasis on researchingand applying accounting standards to various businesssituations. Coverage of reporting for current liabilities,bonds, equity, leases, deferred income tax, and postemploymentbenefits. Includes application of internationalaccounting standards.BUS 350 Managing Behavior in Organizations (3) Prerequisite:Junior Standing. This course prepares students to leadand manage organizations in a highly competitive environment.Students will understand and identify methodsfor improving and maintaining aspects of individual andorganizational performance. The course includes an examinationof management and the applied behavioral sciences;organizational goals, training and performance; organizationalculture; motivation and behavior; building effectiverelationships; planning and implementing change; leadershipstrategies; and integrating situational leadership.BUS 352 Production and Operations Management (3) Prerequisites:BUS 226 and Junior Standing. The applicationof business principles to rational production of goods anddelivery of services. Topics include forecasting, logistics,quality control, process reliability, project management, supplychain management, and resources planning.BUS 354 Human Resource Development (3) Prerequisite:Junior Standing. This course focuses on developing andimplementing programs and processes directed toward organizationalperformance improvement, learning, and change;employee training and development; and addressing theunique needs of a diverse workforce. Students will utilizetools for assessment, analysis and evaluation for the purposeof identifying and establishing priorities, and measuring theresults of human resource development activities.BUS 355 Workforce Planning and Employment (3) Prerequisite:Junior Standing. This course focuses on the developmentand implementation of recruitment, selection, onboarding,succession planning, retention, and organizational exitprograms necessary to achieve organizational objectives.Students will apply techniques such as Markov analysis toassess labor (internal and external) supply and demand; andmetrics to evaluate recruitment sources and retention strategies,such as return on investment, cost per hire, and time tofill. Further, students will incorporate technology throughthe application of Human Resource Information Systems(HRIS).BUS 356 Conflict Management (3) Prerequisite: Junior Standing.This course will introduce students to an analysis ofconflict. Students will explore questions such as: Whatis conflict? How do different people respond to conflict?What are the costs of conflict in a person’s life and in theworkplace? When is conflict constructive and when is itdestructive? Further, students will learn the best tools forresolving conflict in community, corporate, organizational,legal, and interpersonal settings.BUS 357 Negotiations (3) Prerequisite: Junior Standing.Students in this course will learn about conflict, conflictresolution and negotiations. Students will learn and exercisetactics to become better negotiators. During the coursestudents will study the concepts, engage in exercises andparticipate in simulated negotiations.BUS 360 Management Theory and Practice (3) Prerequisite:Junior standing. Develops the management art andscience of planning, organizing, actuating, and controllingthrough people to make ideas materialize within economicconstraints of a business enterprise. Develops ability toconstruct policy, to make scientifically-sound decisionswithin that policy, and to establish ethical procedures toinsure organized productive effort to intended objectives.Develops a management attitude, outlook, and ability.BUS 362 International Business (3) Prerequisites: ECO 202,203 and Junior Standing. Survey of the problems andopportunities involved in conducting business operationsacross national boundaries. Analysis of the concepts, tools,institutions, and environmental factors controlling internationalflows of money, personnel, information, goods andservices.
