(6 hours studio)ART 344 Art History I (3) A survey of painting, sculpture, andarchitecture from Prehistoric to Gothic. (Lecture)ART 345 Art History II (3) A survey of painting, sculpture,and architecture from Early Renaissance through the 19 thCentury. (Lecture)ART 346 Art History III (3) History of Modern Art. A studyof 20 th Century Art, beginning with Post Impressionism,surveying the wide range of movements that resulted fromthe modernist experience. This course will also concernitself with Post-Modernism and begin to explore itsmanifestations in the 21 st Century. (Lecture)ART 351 Pottery and Ceramics II (3) Prerequisite: ART200, 251. A continuation of Pottery and Ceramics Iwith more advanced wheel and hand building conceptsintroduced. Students will learn a variety of surfacedecoration techniques, low and high fire kiln processes, andcontemporary issues in clay. (6 hours studio)ART 371 Sculpture II (3) Prerequisite: ART 200, 271.Advanced application of techniques learned in SculptureI, with an emphasis on materials. Basic stone carving andmetal casting will be explored, in addition to advancedresearch methods. (6 hours studio)ART 381 Printmaking II (3) Prerequisite: ART 200, 281.A further exploration of printmaking concentrating onintaglio processes. Students will primarily explore drypoint, hard and soft ground etching, and aquatint andvarious approaches to monochrome and polychromeprinting. Collography and intagliotype printmaking will beintroduced. (6 hours studio)ART 402 Production and Media Problems (3) Prerequisite:Senior, ART 331. Advanced graphic design courseinvolving assignments in desktop publishing, printing,paper, inks, color reproduction methods, four-color processprinting, electronic color imaging, and preparing computerfiles for printing. Utilizes Adobe Photoshop, AdobeIllustrator, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and MicrosoftPowerPoint. (6 hours studio)ART 410 Interactive Media (3) Prerequisite: Senior, ART402. This course introduces students to various interactivemedia applications. Emphasis on graphic and informationdesign for the web. Utilizes Adobe Flash and AdobeDreamweaver. (6 hours studio)ART 411 Senior Portfolio (1) Prerequisite: Senior. Thiscourse is designed to concentrate on preparing the studentto compete in the job market. Topics include: 1) Portfoliodevelopment, 2) Practical considerations in interviewingskills, 3) Self promotion and developing contacts.Students will make arrangements, advertise and presenttheir individual portfolios at a Senior Portfolio publicpresentation.ART 421 Advanced Problems in Painting (3) Prerequisite:ART 321. Emphasis will be on self-direction regarding theselection of subject matter and media. Experimentation,critical and independent thinking, technical proficiencyand alliance with contemporary art issues are emphasized.(6 hours studio) May be repeated for a total of six (6)credits. Additional hours may be taken as ART 491Special Project in Painting.ART 440 Multicultural Arts (3) Prerequisite: Junior/Senior. Thestudent will become more aware of the arts in global culturesfrom ancient to modern times for purposes of identity,understanding, and expression of our inheritance as worldcitizens. The cultural and ethnic differences will be stressedenough through readings, discussions, and studio experiencesemphasizing the arts as the expressions of these eras. (6hours studio)ART 451 Advanced Problems in Pottery and Ceramics (3)Prerequisite: ART 351. Emphasis will be on self-directionin the selection of utilitarian or sculptural areas to pursuein clay. Experimentation, critical thinking, technicalproficiency and alliance with contemporary art issues areemphasized. (6 hours studio) May be repeated for a totalof six (6) credits. Additional hours may be taken as ART491 Special Project in Pottery and Ceramics.ART 471 Advanced Problems in Sculpture (3) Prerequisite:ART 371. Significant problems in the realization ofsculpture based on individual concepts and advancedapplications of sculptural processes. Expanded media andsafe studio operations will be explored through research.(6 hours studio) May be repeated for a total of six (6)credits. Additional hours may be taken as ART 491Special Project in Sculpture.ART 481 Advanced Problems in Printmaking (3) Prerequisite:ART 381. A further exploration of approaches toprintmaking based on the studetn’s special interest andskills. Photo processes will be more fully presented andexperimentation with additional processes related to theindividual’s approach to imagery will be pursued. (6 hoursstudio) May be repeated for a total of six (6) credits.Additional hours may be taken as ART 491 SpecialProject in Printmaking.ART 490 Senior Exhibit (1) Students will read appropriatematerials, assist in mounting exhibits, design fliers, writepress releases and coordinate publicity. The experience willculminate in the student’s senior exhibition. Students with a
