Students, therefore, should study this catalogcarefully, for it is the official source of all requirements and regulations.WebCat OnlineEffective November 2001, students register and drop/add via WebCat Online from any internet-accessible PC using theirstudent ID and PIN. Students also access their grades (grade reports are no longer mailed), degree audit, Business Services Officeaccount summary (billing statements no longer mailed), financial aid information, 1098T and unofficial transcript. New featuresinclude an online admission application and accept/reject financial aid award letters. With this system, faculty enter mid-term andfinal grades online.Credit HoursThe unit of credit is the semester hour. It is defined as one 50-minute class per week (or its equivalent) for one semester. Forexample, most three-hour classes meet for three 50-minute periods each week, but some meet for two 75-minute periods a week.Some courses require a laboratory session, where a minimum of two to three hours of laboratory activity is the equivalent of onehour of lecture-discussion.Classification of StudentsThe classification of students is as follows:Freshmen: Less than 30 semester hours completed.Sophomores: 30-59 semester hours completed.Juniors:60-89 semester hours completed.Seniors:90 semester hours and above completed.Graduates: Students who have earned a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited institution.Undergraduate Returning StudentsUndergraduate students returning to WSC after an absence of 12 calendar months or more will be required to submit acompleted Returning Student Data Form prior to being allowed to enroll for classes. If other postsecondary institutions wereattended during the period of absence from WSC, official copies of all transcripts must be submitted to the WSC Office of Recordsand Registration by the beginning of the third week of classes of the term of re-entry.Returning undergraduate students who left WSC on probation will re-enter on probation. Students who left WSC in goodstanding may be placed on academic probation upon return if the GPA in college course work attempted from all other institutionsis less than a 2.00. Returning undergraduate students must meet the academic standards in effect for current WSC studentsconcerning periods of suspension from their transfer school or from WSC.Acceptance of <strong>College</strong> Level Credit<strong>College</strong> or University Transfer CreditStudents entering WSC with college credit earned elsewhere are given advanced standing classification with rankingdetermined after an evaluation of such credit by the Office of Records & Registration. Transfer grades are not included in theWSC cumulative grade point calculation. Transfer students are expected to meet all academic requirements of WSC.A transfer student must have an official transcript of credit sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the Registrar’sOffice at each collegiate institution previously attended. Official transcripts are required for an accurate evaluation of transfercredit. Transcripts presented directly by the student are not official and will not be used for evaluation of transfer credit.Appropriate arrangements must be made with the Office of Admissions if this requirement is not met at the time of expectedenrollment.Lower level (100, 200) transfer courses which meet upper level (300, 400) requirements do not count toward the 40-hourupper level requirement at WSC.Credit for a course in which the student earned a grade of “D” is not accepted unless the course was taken at one of themember institutions of the Nebraska <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> System (Chadron <strong>State</strong> and Peru <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong>s) or when accepted as part of
