166 <strong>Wayne</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong>Education SpecialistSchool Administration/Educational LeadershipSchool of Education & CounselingBrandenburg Education BuildingObjectives: This program prepares qualified students forleadership positions in education and meets the endorsementrequirements for all general administrative and supervisorycapacities in Nebraska schools.Program of StudyIn the term of the enrollment immediately followingadmission to a graduate degree program, the student shouldcomplete a Program of Study indicating the courses that havebeen agreed upon and approved by the advisor and departmentchair. Program of Study forms may be obtained fromthe student’s advisor, Graduate Office, or appropriate Schooloffice. After the forms are completed, they should be signed bythe specified individuals. Students wishing to make changes intheir Program of Study need approval of their advisor, departmentchair, and the appropriate Dean. Substantial changes mayrequire a new Program of Study form.The graduate student must complete at least 55% of thecourse sork from full-time WSC faculty to meet the residencyrequirement.GradesNo grade below a “C” (“C-” will not be accepted) in agraduate level course will be accepted toward completion of anEducation Specialist degree program. A minimum cumulatedGPA of 3.2 must be achieved in the Education Specialist degreeprogram. A course receiving an S/NC grade cannot be used inthe Education Specialist’s degree program.Admission to the Degree ProgramIn addition to the admission and registration procedures,which apply to all graduate programs, each applicant must:1. Possess a Master’s degree or endorsement in educationschooladministration from an accredited institution.Applicants with a master’s degree in other education fieldswill be required to complete deficiency hours.5. Take the Pre-Professional Skills Test and receive scores ofat least 170 in Reading, 171 in Mathematics, and 172 inWriting, unless applicant possesses an Administrative andSupervisory Certificate;6. Receive satisfactory letters of recommentation from two(2) school administrators;7. Receive a satisfactory evaluation from WSC faculty membersbased upon performance in completed core Ed.S.courses;8. Be approved by the school administration interviewcommittee after having completed a minimum of nine(9) but no more than fifteen (15) hours of the program;9.
