120 <strong>Wayne</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong>7. Ensemble Credit and RequirementsAll music majors are required to participate in the largeensemble related to their primary performance medium– Marching Band/Wind Ensemble (MUS 142), StringEnsemble (MUS 148), or Choir (MUS 141) – throughouttheir entire program, excluding the semester of StudentTeaching. Because of the dual nature of the K-12Field Endorsement, students in this degree program arerequired to participate in both instrumental and vocalensembles. The minimum ensemble requirementsfor students enrolled in the K-12 Field Endorsementprogram are:1. Voice Primarya. 5 semesters of choir (5 credit hours req.)b. 2 semesters of marching band/wind ensemble (2credit hours req.)2. Winds and Percussion Primarya. 5 semesters of marching band/wind ensemble (5credit hours req.)b. 2 semesters of choir (2 credit hours req.)3. String Primarya. 7 semesters of string ensemble (3.5 credit hoursreq.)b. 2 semesters of choir (2 credit hours req.)c. 2 semesters of marching band/wind ensemble (2credit hours req.)4. Keyboard Primary (as determined by thestudent’s secondary performing medium)a. Voice Secondaryi. 5 semesters of choir (5 credit hours req.)ii. 2 semesters of marching band/wind ensemble (2credit hours req.)b. Wind or Percussion Secondaryi. 5 semesters of marching band/wind ensemble (5credit hours req.)ii. 2 semesters of choir (2 credit hours req.)c. String Secondaryi. 7 semesters of string ensemble (3.5 credit hoursreq.)ii. 2 semesters of choir (2 credit hours req.)8. Private Lesson FeesEach student enrolled in applied music lessons will beassessed a fee in addition to the tuition.9. Other Feesa. Instrument Rental:Students wishing to check out WSC instruments maydo so by filling out an Instrument Checkout Sheet andreturning it to FA 109. A non-refundable fee is requiredeach academic year, which covers the rental of one ormore instruments owned by <strong>Wayne</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Allinstruments must be returned at the end of the semester.Failure to do so will result in the holding of registrationand transcripts, and the student will be charged thereplacement cost of the instrument. If a student wishes touse the assigned instrument for another semester, anotherform must be completed for that semester.b. Lockers:Music students may rent lockers for their instruments andsupplies, subject to availability. A non-refundable fee willbe charged for usage of an appropriate locker, lock, andkey.
