15The <strong>Galileo</strong> Wellness ProgramAbout Us…The Wellness Program at <strong>Galileo</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Science</strong> & <strong>Technology</strong>believes that student wellness is a cornerstone for learningand success in school. We are dedicated to improving thehealth, well-being and educational outcomes <strong>of</strong> all students.We provide free, confidential services for students, including:• Mental Health Counseling• Case Management Groups• Crisis Intervention• Community Referrals• Substance Abuse Counseling• Support/Empowerment• Health Assessment & Education• Reproductive Health ServicesOur program is one <strong>of</strong> fifteen high schools sites funded by theSan Francisco Wellness Initiative; a partnership between SFUSD,DPH and DCYF. We are open M-F, 8am-4pm. Our Wellness ProgramDrop-In Center is located in Room 151 and is open duringlunch and after school. All other times by appointment only.To learn more, email us at galileo@sfwellness.org.How do students take advantage <strong>of</strong>Wellness Program services?• Students can self refer by dropping by one <strong>of</strong> the Wellness<strong>of</strong>fices and talking with a Wellness staff person.• A parent can call any Wellness staff person if they have anyconcern about their child.• A <strong>Galileo</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> staff person, such as a teacher or counselor,can refer a student who appears to be having difficulties.• Students with concerns about a friend can refer to a WellnessProgram staff person.“Since I’ve been getting help from this program, life seems to bea bit clearer.
