IN YEAR ADMISSIONSParent/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> living in Reading Borough seeking aplace in any year group at any state school mustapply <strong>to</strong> Reading Borough Council <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> completethe Sec<strong>on</strong>dary In Year Applicati<strong>on</strong> Form which isavailable from the Admissi<strong>on</strong>s Team or from thewebsite. Applicati<strong>on</strong>s will be passed <strong>on</strong> Fridaysfollowing receipt of the applicati<strong>on</strong> either <strong>to</strong> theGoverning Body of the Reading school namedas preference or <strong>to</strong> the Local Authority in whichthe preferred school is located. The GoverningBody of the school or Local Authority willin<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m Reading Borough Council whether aplace is available. This process should not takel<strong>on</strong>ger than ten school days. Reading BoroughCouncil will then in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m the parent/carerwhether a place is available at their preferredschool.Where applicati<strong>on</strong>s have been made <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>Wokingham Borough Council schools<str<strong>on</strong>g>parents</str<strong>on</strong>g>/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> will be in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>med about theoutcome of their applicati<strong>on</strong> by that authority<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Reading Borough Council will be in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>med.<strong>School</strong>s must not make offers direct <strong>to</strong><str<strong>on</strong>g>parents</str<strong>on</strong>g>/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g>. If the child has moved in<strong>to</strong>Reading <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> has no school place we aim <strong>to</strong>ensure the child has started at their new schoolwithin 20 school days. Request <strong>to</strong> transfer from<strong>on</strong>e local school <strong>to</strong> another, where there hasnot been a change of address, will bec<strong>on</strong>sidered in the same way but the child wouldnot normally transfer <strong>to</strong> a new school until thebeginning of a new term.Sometimes is may be necessary <strong>to</strong> c<strong>on</strong>siderapplicati<strong>on</strong>s as part of the ‘Fair Access Pro<strong>to</strong>col’.This may mean that the applicati<strong>on</strong> processtakes l<strong>on</strong>ger as it may be necessary <strong>to</strong> obtainschool reports from previous schools <strong>to</strong> helpschools identify any special needs or supportneeded <strong>to</strong> ensure a smooth transiti<strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> a newschool.
