Admissi<strong>on</strong> arrangements <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> 14-16 provisi<strong>on</strong>6. (a) The Technical Academy is a regi<strong>on</strong>alfacility <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> there<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>e welcomesstudents from across Berkshire withcatchment areas which includeReading, Wokingham, West Berkshire,South Ox<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>dshire, Basings<strong>to</strong>ke &Deane, Bracknell Forest, Windsor &Maidenhead, Wycombe <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hart.Grouped post code areas have beendefined as the method <strong>to</strong> ensuregeographical spread. This means thatapplicants living close <strong>to</strong> the ReadingTechnical Academy, or with siblings atthe Reading Technical Academy, do nothave priority over other applicantswithin the other areas.(b) A set percentage of places will beallocated <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> children resident in eachof the grouped post code areas. A mapshowing these post code areas isattached at Appendix A.Procedures where the Reading TechnicalAcademy is oversubscribed7. Where the number of applicati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>admissi<strong>on</strong> is greater than the publishedadmissi<strong>on</strong>s number, applicati<strong>on</strong>s will bec<strong>on</strong>sidered against the criteria set outbelow. After the admissi<strong>on</strong> of pupilswith statements of Special Educati<strong>on</strong>alNeeds where the Reading TechnicalAcademy is named <strong>on</strong> the statement,the criteria will be applied in the orderin which they are set out below:a) Looked after children; or a child whowas previously looked after butimmediately after being looked afterbecame subject <strong>to</strong> an adopti<strong>on</strong> order,residence, or special guardianshiporder. A looked after child is a childwho is (a) in the care of a localauthority, or (b) being provided withaccommodati<strong>on</strong> by a local authority inthe exercise of their social servicesfuncti<strong>on</strong>s.b) Remaining places will be allocated asfollows: a. 30% of places allocated <strong>to</strong>applicants within Area 1 which willInclude all postcodes in RG1, RG2, RG4,RG5, RG6 <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> RG30c) 30% of places allocated <strong>to</strong> applicantswithin Area 2 which will include allpostcodes in RG7, RG8, RG9, RG10,RG12, RG27, RG31, RG40, RG41, RG42,RG45, GU46 <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> GU47d) 30% of places allocated <strong>to</strong>applicants within Area 3 which willinclude all postcodes in RG14, RG18,RG19, RG21, RG22, RG23, RG24, RG26,SL1, SL2, SL4, SL5, SL6, SL7, GU14, GU15,GU17, GU18, GU19, GU20 <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> GU51e) Remaining 10% of places will beallocated <strong>to</strong> pupils living outside theareas listed in b <strong>to</strong> d above with thoseliving closest <strong>to</strong> the fr<strong>on</strong>t gates of theTechnical Academy (straight linedistance - fr<strong>on</strong>t door <strong>to</strong> fr<strong>on</strong>t door,using GPS technology) being admitted.8. (a) If the number of applicants withinany <strong>on</strong>e area exceeds its allocati<strong>on</strong>,places will be allocated r<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>omly <strong>to</strong>the applicants within that area.(b) In the event that places allocated <strong>to</strong>a particular group of post code areasare not filled, the balance of places willfirst be allocated <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> children residentin any of the remaining post code areasby r<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>om allocati<strong>on</strong>(c) If there is the same number orfewer applicants than places available,then all applicants will be offered aplace. Any unfilled places after allapplicants in paragraph 7 have beenadmitted will be distributed <strong>to</strong> thoseapplicants who live outside of the postcode areas using r<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>om allocati<strong>on</strong>.(d) Applicati<strong>on</strong>s from sets of twins orother children from multiple births willbe treated as individual applicants.
