Theholding of a British Overseas or BritishDependent Territories passport does notmake a child eligible <strong>for</strong> a State BoardingSchool education, neither does a temporarystudent visa.Entry into the Sixth FormSixth Form Admission NumberThe admission number <strong>for</strong> non ReadingSchool pupils <strong>for</strong> Year 12 is 15, with nospecified number <strong>for</strong> day or boarding pupils.Application <strong>for</strong> a placeApplications must be made to ReadingSchool <strong>and</strong> NOT to the Local Authority.Application <strong>for</strong>ms will be available from July2012 <strong>for</strong> day applications <strong>and</strong> at any time <strong>for</strong>boarding. Applications received after thedeadlineApplications received after the deadline willbe treated as late applications, but will beconsidered if submitted by 1 September 2013.Entry RequirementsFor entry into the Sixth Form boys musthave achieved a total of at least 50 points(A*=8, A=7, B=6 etc) from 8 GCSE subjects<strong>and</strong> at least a grade C at GCSE inMathematics <strong>and</strong> English Language. Inaddition, it is expected that prospectiveentrants will have obtained a grade B, orbetter, in the subjects to be studied in theSixth Form. Two exceptions to this are that agrade A is required <strong>for</strong> studying Mathematics<strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong> a student who wishes to studyBiology, Chemistry or Physics <strong>and</strong> has notstudied separate sciences, then A grades arerequired in both Science <strong>and</strong> AdditionalScience.Special Educational NeedsAny student with special educational needsor a disability, who is applying <strong>for</strong> a place atthe School, should write to the SpecialEducational Needs Coordinator so that theSchool can assess his applicationappropriately.Fraudulent ApplicationsAny in<strong>for</strong>mation that is subsequently provento be inaccurate will potentially invalidatethat application.Provisional OffersProvisional offers, if appropriate, will bemade no earlier than 15 February 2013 <strong>and</strong>,<strong>for</strong> applications received after this date,responses will be made within two weeks ofreceipt of the predicted GCSE grades.Oversubscription CriteriaIf there are more applicants than placesavailable, preference will be given to childrenin care. Every ef<strong>for</strong>t will be made toaccommodate students who meet the entryrequirements <strong>for</strong> a place in Year 12, butapplicants should appreciate that somesubjects may become full in which case wewill operate a waiting list. This will be mostrelevant to applications received after 1February 2013.
