Boarding needChildren with a boarding need include:i) Those at risk or with an unstable homeenvironment ong>andong> children of servicepersonnel who have died while servingor who have been discharged as a resultof attributable injury; orii)children of key workers ong>andong> CrownServants working abroad (e.g. thechildren of charity workers, peopleworking ong>forong> voluntary serviceorganisations, the diplomatic service orthe European Union, teachers, lawenong>forong>cement officers ong>andong> medical staffworking abroad) whose work dictatesthat they spend much of the yearoverseas.Children who are not in the normalage groupSuch boys must be studying in Year 6 at thetime of testing.Only in highly exceptional circumstances willapplications be accepted from any boywhose birth date is beong>forong>e 01.09.2001 or after31.12.2002.Applicants who sit the tests early, i.e. whosedate of birth falls on or between 01.09.2002-31.12.2002, ong>andong> are not successful, will onlybe permitted to apply again the followingyear provided they are repeating Year 6.Written confirmation from the school willbe requested. On 1 February 2013, ong>forong>applicants who reside outside Englong>andong> only,Reading School will also inong>forong>m ong>parentsong> howtheir sons have perong>forong>med in the tests ong>andong>make offers of places, when applicable.Waiting listsDuring the routine admission round a‘waiting list’ will be administered if theschool has more applicants than placesavailable. A child’s position on the waiting listis determined according to theoversubscription criteria that applied toapplicants at the time of original allocationof places. Reading School will keep a waitinglist open until 31 January 2014. This list will bemade available to the LA who will offerplaces on our behalf ong>forong> ong>parentsong> who residein Englong>andong>. From 1 March 2013, ReadingSchool will offer places when appropriate toong>parentsong> who reside outside Englong>andong>.Boarding RegulationsBoarders must have suitable accommodationoutside School ong>forong> the weekends. This maybe provided by the family, friends or aguardian. Reading School regrets that it isunable to assist in finding a guardian.Passport RequirementsAll students must be entitled to hold a fullBritish Citizen passport, be a national of theEuropean Economic Area or have the right ofresidence in the United Kingdom.
