However being assessedsuitable <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> admissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> Reading <strong>School</strong> willnot guarantee a place as it is extremelylikely that there will be many more boyswho qualify than places available. In this casethe over-subscripti<strong>on</strong> criteria will be applied<strong>to</strong> all where an applicati<strong>on</strong> is received <strong>on</strong> thelocal authority <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m.Special Educati<strong>on</strong>al NeedsThe <str<strong>on</strong>g>parents</str<strong>on</strong>g> of any child with specialeducati<strong>on</strong>al needs or a disability, who areapplying <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> a place at the <strong>School</strong>, shouldwrite <strong>to</strong> the Special Educati<strong>on</strong>al NeedsCoordina<strong>to</strong>r so that the <strong>School</strong> can makeappropriate provisi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> the entry tests.Fraudulent Applicati<strong>on</strong>sAny in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> that is subsequently proven<strong>to</strong> be inaccurate will potentially invalidatethat applicati<strong>on</strong>.Over subscripti<strong>on</strong> CriteriaGrammar <strong>School</strong>s are permitted <strong>to</strong> select theirentire intake <strong>on</strong> the basis of high academicability. To be c<strong>on</strong>sidered <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> admissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> theschool all applicants must take the entrancetests set by the school the results of which willbe used <strong>to</strong> allocate places.A cut-off point will be determined, belowwhich students will be deemed not <strong>to</strong>benefit from the style of educati<strong>on</strong> providedat Reading <strong>School</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> these students willnot be offered a place <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> will not there<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>ebe ranked according <strong>to</strong> the over-subscripti<strong>on</strong>criteria below.All applicants above the cut-off point will beranked in the following order <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> withineach category strictly by their per<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mancein the test:i) The applicant has a statement of specialneeds <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> has named Reading <strong>School</strong>specifically <strong>on</strong> the statement.ii)iii)iv)The applicant is a child in care orpreviously in care.The permanent home address of thestudent is within the designated area ofthe school <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> this home address is theaddress of the parent(s)/carer(s) <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> thestudent.Students whose home address is NOTin the designated area of the school.A waiting list ranked as above will be used <strong>to</strong>offer further places if any original offers aredeclined either by the LA, or by the<str<strong>on</strong>g>parents</str<strong>on</strong>g>/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> themselves. Parents ofchildren above the cut-off point who changetheir preference following allocati<strong>on</strong> day i.ebecause their child was offered a higherpreference will be added <strong>to</strong> the waiting listaccording <strong>to</strong> the over-subscripti<strong>on</strong> criteria.Equally any child ranked as category iv) whomoves in<strong>to</strong> the designated area followingreceipt of proof of address will be re-ranked<strong>to</strong> category iii).The tie-break situati<strong>on</strong>The following criteri<strong>on</strong> will be used <strong>to</strong>allocate places as between borderlinec<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>idates who cannot be distinguished interms of academic ability.With regard <strong>to</strong> the his<strong>to</strong>ric links with theBorough of Reading, eligible boys livingnearer <strong>to</strong> the <strong>School</strong> will be accorded ahigher priority in the allocati<strong>on</strong> of day-boyplaces.
