The testwill only test aptitude in sport <strong>and</strong> not ability.The tests set will be accessible to childrenwith special educational needs <strong>and</strong> disabilities.Testing ArrangementsIf you wish to apply <strong>for</strong> a place as part ofCategory 2 above – selection <strong>for</strong> Sportspecialism you must complete the School’sadditional Form. The <strong>for</strong>m is available fromthe School, Admissions Team or from theReading Borough Council’s website.The <strong>for</strong>m must be completed <strong>and</strong> returnedto the School by Monday 1 October 2012.The testing process will take place on Friday19 October 2012 <strong>and</strong> you will be in<strong>for</strong>med onMonday 17th October if your child has beensuccessful or not. You will then know be<strong>for</strong>eyou need to complete your Local Authorityapplication <strong>for</strong>m, whether your applicationwill be ranked as Category 2 of theoversubscription criteria as above.Tie-breakerIf the school does not have enough places <strong>for</strong>all applicants in a particular category – placeswill be allocated to those living nearest to theschool measured in a straight-line betweenthe data point of the home <strong>and</strong> the datapoint of the school. The data point is theunique address point supplied by OrdnanceSurvey <strong>and</strong> measured using the ReadingBorough Council’s mapping software. The datapoint <strong>for</strong> the home <strong>and</strong> the school can beenseen on Reading Borough Council’s website.DefinitionsStrong Medical/Social GroundsChildren with a chronic medical condition orstrong social grounds which is fully supportedby written confirmation from the professionalperson involved in the case, <strong>and</strong> which statesthat Prospect School is the only school thatthe pupil can attend because of the medicalor social reasons.SiblingSiblings are children who have either the samemother or father, or they are children who livetogether in a family unit <strong>and</strong> with theirparent/<strong>carers</strong>(s). Siblings must also live at thesame address as each other. If they do not liveat the same address, then they are not treatedas siblings.Home address See page 3.Multiple BirthsIn the event that it is possible to offer a placeto one child <strong>and</strong> not others the GoverningBody would agree to allocate additional placesbeyond the admission number toaccommodate children of multiple birth. Inthe event of vacancies occurring they wouldnot be allocated until places became availablebelow the published admission number.Waiting ListsAfter 1 March 2013 a ‘waiting list’ will beadministered if the school has more applicantsthan places available. A child’s position on thewaiting list is determined according to theover-subscription criteria. When a placebecomes available this will be offered to thenext child on the waiting list. Positions on thewaiting lists may go up or down due tostudent withdrawals or new arrivals.
