Distance will be from the homeaddress <strong>to</strong> the fr<strong>on</strong>t gate of the school.It will be measured in a straight linefrom the home address <strong>to</strong> the fr<strong>on</strong>tgate of the school using grid references<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> ordnance survey maps.Children who are not in the normal agegroupApplicati<strong>on</strong>s will not normally be accepted fromany girl whose birth date is be<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>e 01.09.2000.Applicati<strong>on</strong>s will not normally be accepted fromany girl whose date of birth is after 31.12.2001.In additi<strong>on</strong>, such girls must be studying in Year 6at the time of applicati<strong>on</strong>.Only in highly excepti<strong>on</strong>al circumstances willapplicati<strong>on</strong>s be accepted from any girl whosebirth date is be<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>e 01.09.2000 or after 31.12.2001.Applicants who sit the test early, ie whose dateof birth falls <strong>on</strong> or between 01.09.2001 –31.12.2001, <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> are not successful, will <strong>on</strong>ly bepermitted <strong>to</strong> apply again the following yearprovided they are repeating Year 6. Writtenc<strong>on</strong>firmati<strong>on</strong> from the school will be requested.Any girl who has moved <strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> Year 7 will not beeligible.Applicants working in Year 5 may take the testproviding the home LA has received a comm<strong>on</strong>applicati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> has approved theapplicati<strong>on</strong> by c<strong>on</strong>sidering the age, aptitude,ability <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> emoti<strong>on</strong>al <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> social development ofthe applicant. If they are unsuccessful or if theydecline the offer of a place, they will not bepermitted <strong>to</strong> take the test again in Year 6.Offer dateAll parent/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> will be in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>med in writing, bythe home LA, the school allocated <strong>to</strong> their child<strong>on</strong> the nati<strong>on</strong>al offer date of 1 March 2013.Waiting listsAfter 1 March 2013, a ‘waiting list’ will beadministered if the school has more applicantsthan places available. A child’s positi<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> thewaiting list is determined according <strong>to</strong> theoversubscripti<strong>on</strong> criteria that applied <strong>to</strong>applicants at the time of original allocati<strong>on</strong> ofplaces. The list will be kept open until 31 January2014.Admissi<strong>on</strong>s outside of the routineadmissi<strong>on</strong>s round – In year admissi<strong>on</strong>sApplicati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> entry <strong>to</strong> Year 7 after the end ofthe routine admissi<strong>on</strong> round <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> applicati<strong>on</strong>s<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> entry <strong>to</strong> Years 8 – 10 at any time are treatedas in year admissi<strong>on</strong>s. If places become availablethe students <strong>on</strong> register of interest will beinvited <strong>to</strong> take entrance tests.AppealsParents/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> of students refused a place in allyears groups of the school, are entitled <strong>to</strong>appeal <strong>to</strong> an independent appeals panel.Year 12 Admissi<strong>on</strong>s Policy –September 2013 entryApplicati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> admissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> the Sixth Form atKendrick <strong>School</strong> (Year 12) will be h<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ledaccording <strong>to</strong> this policy.Entry in<strong>to</strong> the Sixth FormFor entry in<strong>to</strong> Kendrick’s Sixth Form, applicantswill normally have <strong>to</strong> satisfy the followingminimum c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s:• 6 GCSEs grades A* - C, two of whichmust be English Language <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>Mathematics; at least 4 should be atgrade B (in full GCSEs).
