Theschool was founded by <strong>and</strong> is part of theCatholic Church <strong>and</strong> is in the Trusteeship of theDiocese. The school is conducted as a Catholicschool in accordance with canon law, theteachings of the Catholic Church <strong>and</strong> the TrustDeed of the Diocese of Portsmouth. It seeks atall times to be a witness to Jesus Christ.The school offers a Catholic education. Thegovernors expect that <strong>parents</strong> applying <strong>for</strong>places <strong>for</strong> their children will accept <strong>and</strong> upholdthe Catholic character <strong>and</strong> ethos of the school.The school was set up primarily to serve theCatholic community in the Greater Readingarea. Although Catholic children have priorityof admission, the Governing Body alsowelcomes applications from those of otherdenominations <strong>and</strong> faiths who support thereligious ethos of the school.The School’s SupplementaryApplication FormsParents <strong>and</strong> <strong>carers</strong> are required to completetheir home LA application <strong>for</strong>m, which mustbe submitted to the LA. In addition it isadvisable to complete the school'ssupplementary <strong>for</strong>m as this <strong>and</strong> thesupporting evidence (baptism certificate<strong>and</strong>/or supporting letter fromChurch/Minister) will be used to place yourchild in a category. Failure to submit thesupplementary <strong>for</strong>m <strong>and</strong> the requireddocumentation will prevent your child beingput in the correct category <strong>and</strong> mayjeopardise gaining a place at the school. Thesupplementary <strong>for</strong>m can be obtained fromthe school office, school website,Admissions Department at the Reading LAor from Reading Borough Council’s website,<strong>and</strong> should be submitted to the AdmissionsSecretary to the Governing Body at BlessedHugh Faringdon Catholic School by 31stOctober 2012. Applications received afterthis deadline will only be considered after allon-time applications have been dealt with.Late ApplicationsLate applications are those received afterthe Local Education Authority deadline. <strong>and</strong>may jeopardise your child’s chance of a placeat this school.
