If a place becomes available <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> your childfrom the waiting list of your higherpreference school(s) Reading BoroughCouncil will send you an offer letter. Thismeans that the place at the school yourchild has been allocated will be withdrawn<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> maybe offered <strong>to</strong> another child. If atany time after completing your acceptance<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m you are happy <strong>to</strong> accept the allocatedschool please in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m the Admissi<strong>on</strong>s Team<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> your child’s name will be taken off thewaiting list(s).It is important <strong>to</strong> note that the length oftime <strong>on</strong> a waiting list is not a decidingfac<strong>to</strong>r when allocating places. Appeals lodged <strong>on</strong> time will be heardin the summer term.The number of appeals allowed <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>the same school in the same schoolyearParents/Carers can <strong>on</strong>ly appeal <strong>on</strong>ce <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> thesame child <strong>to</strong> the same school in the sameschool year. Parent/<str<strong>on</strong>g>carers</str<strong>on</strong>g> can make anotherappeal in the next school year.The <strong>on</strong>ly excepti<strong>on</strong> <strong>to</strong> this is where there iswhat is called a material <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> significantchange in the circumstances of theparent/carer or child. You should make an appeal.
