We again hadthe opportunity to be entertained by Hungarian music, singingand dancing. Aerobatic aeroplanes gave stunning performancesfor those resident in the airfield camp-site. Overall, the organisation and facilities were excellent. Thanks to thosewho put in the effort to make it so.The Club now have the majority of the drawings atLasham on Microfiche but with more yet to be done if we canfind the money. Slingsby Aviation has generously offered toforego any claim to the drawings in our possession providedwe respond to them should they require it. Anyone whowishes to take advantage of having their drawings copied ontomicrofilm at the prices we have negotiated should contactGraham Saw immediately. We are planning on increasing the membership of the VGCby advertising in all gliding clubs the advantages and servicesthe Club can offer, such as our quality magazine, technicalarticles, our library of drawings (which include post vintagetypes), International and National rallies, a preferential insurancescheme and regular social events. In fact, we now holdso many rallies in so many different venues that attendancesare becoming very thinly spread. Surely we have become avictim of our own success? Perhaps we should now acknowledgethat the attendance of post vintage classic gliders atthese events would be welcomed to make up the numbers. The International Committee agreed that the next InternationalRally be held in France at Bar-sur-Seine (in the champagnearea), with the rendezvous at Nancy. Slovakia offeredto host the Rally the following year, as has HusbandsBosworth who wish to remind members that this will markthe 25th anniversary of the forming of the Club at that site in1972. There were no proposals for 1999 and for the millenniumyear 2000, the USA have made a bid. Obviously, therewas great debate regarding this last proposal so make sureyour views are known in time for a decision to be made by theInternational Committee next year, as considerable time fororganising such an event would be needed. Finally, in order to avoid any legal claims against the Clubor its members (see Sailplane & Gliding also), it has beendecided to reform the Vintage Glider Club as a LimitedCompany. More details in the next issue and to BuckminsterGliding Club, thanks for a super Annual Dinner.
