Volumetric growth of various aortic segments in human fetuses 77reported by some authors dimensions of the aorta havebeen found to be independent of gender [10, 11].The present data show that the volumetric growthof all portions of the aorta related to fetal age increasedaccording to the quadratic function. The volume of thevarious aortic segments increased as fetal age advanced, according to the following functions: y = 373.1– 43.38x + 1.30x 2 ± 24.51 for the ascending aorta, y =513.4 – 58.464x + 1.704x 2 ± 49.254 for the aortic arch, and y = 1376.2 – 154.42x + 4.419x 2 ± 125.6 for thethoracic aorta. It should be noted, that the aortic volumesummarized increased in accordance with themodel y = 2262 - 256x + 7.423x 2 ± 212. These quadraticfunctions were the best model for the volumetricgrowth of the different aortic segments, because thecoefficients of determination (R 2 ) between volume andfetal age reached the values from 0.89 to 0.96(P
