The University is alsoa member of the Association of Indian Universities <strong>and</strong> Association of Common WealthUniversities. The m<strong>and</strong>ate of the University, as per the Act, is to promote <strong>and</strong> developthe <strong>Urdu</strong> language, provide higher, technical <strong>and</strong> vocational education through <strong>Urdu</strong>medium <strong>and</strong> to provide focus on women education. The Act empowers the Universityto offer education through the distance <strong>and</strong> regular mode as well. Moreover, theUniversity has made many strides within a span of 14 years of its establishment bylaunching newer courses both in regular <strong>and</strong> distance mode. In regular mode, theUniversity has departments of <strong>Urdu</strong>, Hindi, English, Persian, Arabic, Translation,Maths, Computer Sciences & In<strong>form</strong>ation Technology, Education & Training, MassCommunication & Journalism, Commerce & Business Management, Women Studies,Political Science <strong>and</strong> Public Administration & the Department of Sociology <strong>and</strong> SocialWork. Further, the University has one Directorate (Directorate of Distance Education),<strong>and</strong> four Centres such as the Centre for Professional Development of <strong>Urdu</strong> MediumTeachers (CPDUMT), Centre for Women Studies, Centre for Studies in Social Exclusion<strong>and</strong> Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) <strong>and</strong> the Centre for <strong>Urdu</strong> Language, Literature <strong>and</strong>Culture (CULLC), H.K. Sherwani Centre for Deccan Studies, besides the Academic StaffCollege, <strong>Maulana</strong> <strong>Azad</strong> Chair, Polytechnics <strong>and</strong> I.T.Is Apart from this, the Universityhas facilities of imparting coaching for I.A.S aspirants through Civil Services CoachingAcademy <strong>and</strong> the University also provides coaching facility for UGC NET/JRF apartfrom Remedial classes & APPSC Coaching. On the basis of these achievements NAAChas awarded "A" grade to the University.5
