<strong>REAL</strong> <strong>RESULTS</strong><strong>PLC</strong>-<strong>Based</strong> <strong>Offshore</strong> <strong>Platform</strong><strong>Control</strong> <strong>System</strong> Provides TurnkeyMonitoring, <strong>Control</strong> and Well TestingObjectives• Monitor, control, and test oil wells on two offshore platforms.• Choose a system that can accommodate future expansion.Results• Weatherford developed two platform control systems, eachconsisting of a 16-well wellhead control panel, a well test panel,field interface panels, a safety-system hot-backup programmablelogic controller (<strong>PLC</strong>), a process-system hot-backup <strong>PLC</strong>, and hotbackuphost computers.• Twelve well-control modules were installed.• A total of 19 field interface panels were installed and included bothpneumatic and electronic controls.• Weatherford mounted and wired the hot-backup <strong>PLC</strong>s, light-boxannunciators, and power supplies in freestanding, paintedNEMA 4 enclosures.
