REAL RESULTSPLC-Based Offshore PlatformControl System Provides TurnkeyMonitoring, Control and Well TestingObjectives• Monitor, control, and test oil wells on two offshore platforms.• Choose a system that can accommodate future expansion.Results• Weatherford developed two platform control systems, eachconsisting of a 16-well wellhead control panel, a well test panel,field interface panels, a safety-system hot-backup programmablelogic controller (PLC), a process-system hot-backup PLC, and hotbackuphost computers.• Twelve well-control modules were installed.• A total of 19 field interface panels were installed and included bothpneumatic and electronic controls.• Weatherford mounted and wired the hot-backup PLCs, light-boxannunciators, and power supplies in freestanding, paintedNEMA 4 enclosures.
