It is also of historical merit, being a goodexample of a late 18th/early 19th century flour mill, probably re-equipped around1883. The mill is also of technical interest as it retains its waterwheel and principalgearing and machinery. In recent years, the owner has availed of grants provided by Offaly CC to restore theroofs in a manner in keeping with the mill's character. This is an important first step ifthe interiors are to be preserved. Only the main part of the grain store roof is now inneed of repairs. The mill complex is of regional industrial heritage significance. The inclusion of themill buildings and associated house as Protected Structures in the Co OffalyDevelopment Plan 2009-15 is warranted.RatingRegionalProtection Offaly RPS 62-01;Offaly RPS 62-02ActionNone (in RPS)Associated withOFIAR-042-017Other dbase NIAH 14943002 (R); NIAH 14943003 (R)ReferencesFeehan, J.
