All staffworking with children, includingsubstitute counselors, have successfullypassed the Oregon Child Care Registry’scriminal background check.Counselor to student ratios are 1:6 forkindergarten, 1:8 for 1st grade – 2ndgrade, 1:10 for 3nd-8th grades. At notime is any child left unsupervised.SafetyZoo security staff members are firstaid, CPR and automatic emergencydefibrillator (AED) trained. Camp staffare trained to respond to emergencysituations.When registering, parents are askedto list the names of authorizedtransporters. Everyone picking up achild from camp will be required topresent photo ID that matches a nameon that list.Can Parents Stay with Kids?Our camp program is designed forchildren who are able to be successfulin group-oriented programs withoutparent involvement.MedicationMedication cannot be administeredor dispensed by staff. Campers mustbe able to take their own medication.However, staff can carry medicationsand help children remember to takethem. Lead camp staff and the zoo’sfull time security staff are first aidtrained.AllergiesIf your child has any food-specificallergies please pack your ownsnacks and lunches. You child will bepermitted to eat their home-packedsnacks during snack time.“He loves it all and countsthe days until next yearwhen he can go again.”Special NeedsPlease detail any physical, academic orsocial special needs your child has thatour staff should be made aware of.Special needs will be accommodatedto the best of our ability provided weknow in advance of your camp week.
