4 th International Symposium of Biotechnology10 – 11 th November 2011, Bucharest, RomaniaS.P.10. RESEARCH ON LABORATORY SCALEDISINTEGRABILITY OF SOME BIO-COMPOSITE MATERIALSUniversity of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine BucharestKeywords: bio-composites, disintegrability, packaging materialsTANASE Elena, POPA Vlad, MITELUT AmaliaBiodegradable products are products that undergo biodegradation. In theory, biodegradable products, or BPs for short, are the perfect solution for reducing a large percentage ofthe waste products that pollute our environment. This paper presents the results of laboratory work, for a period of 90 days, after has beendetermined the degree of disintegration of some composite packaging materials. The disintegration degree of packaging materials is representing one of the task withinFORBIOPLAST (Forest Resource Sustainability through Bio-Based-Composite Development), acollaborative Large-scale research project, funded by the European Commission under the 7thFramework Programme (FP7).The trial presented here consisiting of 9 bio - composite samples which were investigatedunder aerobic composting conditions in a laboratory scale test according to SR EN 14806 (2006)“Packaging – Preliminary evaluation of the disintegration of packaging materials under simulatedcomposting conditions in a laboratory scale test.”This test method evaluates the degree of disintegration of the materials in the laboratory, under similar conditions of an intense aerobic composting process and the results are presented inorder to further selection of the tested materials for different applications.112
4 th International Symposium of Biotechnology10 – 11 th November 2011, Bucharest, RomaniaThe underlying company’s motto is: “Quality is the difference”.Analytik Jena is a leading provider of high-end analytical instruments and bioanalyticalsystems for industrial and scientific applications. The company is represented in more than 100 countries and has its roots in theZeiss-company with the headquarters in Jena, Germany. It has more than 150 years of experience in the field of optical spectroscopy andelemental analysis.Area of product applications are including materials research, cosmetic industry, food industry, pharmacy, research and education, agriculture, water analysis, metallurgy, petrochemical industry, chemical industry, galvanic industry, medicine. The products of Analytik Jena have an intelligent design and enhanced qualitybecause:- The optics are quartz coated- Usage of certified high end components only in the manufacturing process- The optical systems are complete encapsulatedAnalytik Jena is the only company which offers 10 years warranty on opticalcomponents.Analytical instruments produced by Analytik Jena includes:- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy: novAA ® , ZEEnit, contrAA ®- Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy: mercur- Sample Preparation: microwave digestion systems (TOPwave ® )- UV VIS Spectroscopy: SPECORD ® and SPEKOL ®- Photochemiluminescence: PHOTOCHEM ®- Sum Parameter Analysis: - multi N/C ® – TOC/TN, multi X ® – AOX/TOX,EOX, POX- Elemental Analysis: Carbon, Sulfur, Nitrogen and Chlorine (multi EA ® series)Analytik Jena brings an innovation on the market – the contrAA ® series – whichexceeds the performance of conventional AA spectrometers in all parameters. The HR-CSAAS contrAA ® 700 it’s a new instrument concept, using a high-intensity xenon short-arclamp as continuum radiation source, a high-resolution double monochromator (a prism andan Echelle grating) and a CCD array detector. It finally closes the gap between ICP-OESand AAS.HR-CS AAS contrAA ® 300 for flame and hydride techniques, contrAA ® 600 forgraphite furnace technique and contrAA ® 700 for flame, hydride and graphite furnacetechniques are capable of analyzing liquid as well as solid samples. This instrumentscombines intelligent design with premium functionality and persuasive performancecharacteristics:- Just one light source for all elements113
