Discover what a typicalday is like and gain a clear understanding of each grade’s expectations. Summer reading and math questions are answered.Teachers gain a clear picture of each child’s interests and academic skills so that when the first day of the new school yeararrives, students are ready to embark on a year of great accomplishments and enjoyable learning experiences.The Path to Pre-Kindergarten (entering Pre-Kindergarten)Experience the joys of Lake Highland’s Pre-Kindergarten. During this week, parents and students will become familiar with ourcampus, classrooms, and teachers. The children will create theme-related art projects and enjoy daily music lessons and thinkinggames. New friendships will be established through socialization activities in the classroom and on the playground. Parentalanxiety is minimized as families blend into Lake Highland’s traditions and each morning begins with a young child’s excitementabout going to school! Students may attend more than one week. This class is open only to students who will be attending LakeHighland’s Pre-Kindergarten program.This course ends at 2:00 each day. If you have another child in a class with a dismissal time later than 2:00, please see our ExtendedCare options on page 45. Kindergarten Highlights (entering Kindergarten)Open to students who attended Lake Highland’s Pre-Kindergarten or new students who have completed Leading Up toKindergarten, this week is a great opportunity for children to meet kindergarten teachers and friends. Let’s Go Camping and AWeek at the Beach are the respective themes for language arts and math activities that are enhanced with literature, art, music,computers, and outdoor activities. We will also visit the LHPS pool for a quick swim several afternoons. When a manatee is reported missing, Mia is determined tosolve the mystery.
