The Land of Fossils and Dinosaurs (entering 1st–3rd grade)Delve into the world of dinosaurs and explore prehistoric times. How big were the dinosaurs? Can you imagine having one as apet? Stories, games, and exciting activities will uncover a massive amount of fun information. We will even visit the T-Rex Café forsome prehistoric food and fun! We will also visit the <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> pool for a swim each day.Teachers: Christina Sahr and Mary Scott2AB (S1523158): June 15th –19th 9:00–3:30 $390Lincoln-Douglas Novice Debate Camp (entering 8th – 9th grade)This class is for students who have joined or are planning to join the Lincoln-Douglas Debate team and are not planning to attenda national debate camp this summer. Intense weeklong instruction will prepare students for immediate competitive success as LDdebate novices in the 2015-2016 Season. Students will be guided through the same process that the Upper <strong>School</strong> Lincoln-Douglasteam utilizes to prepare for competition. Through the process, they will learn the basic skills of argumentation, how to research,how to construct cases, how to prepare rebuttal arguments, how to make use of cross-examination time, and how to weigh and winarguments. In addition, students will be introduced to some of the main philosophical arguments that are utilized in LD debate.Prior to this week, students will select a camp topic and complete background readings and assignments. They will also set up aDrop Box account and are expected to bring a laptop computer with Microsoft Word capability, pens (both black and red), and atimer or stop watch. <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> has one of the most competitive speech and debate teams in the United States and has boastedone of the top ten LD debate programs for over a decade.Teacher: George Clemens2AB (S1523330): June 15th–19th 9:00–3:30 $380Lions, Tigers, and Bears! Oh, My! (entering 1st-2nd grade)Join us on an expedition as we explore zoo life. What is the job of a zookeeper? What types of animals and habitats are found atthe zoo? Do giraffes really sleep standing up? Literature, themed activities, art, and songs will help us with our exploration. Oneday we will take a trip to the Brevard County Zoo! We will also visit the <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> pool for a swim each day.Teachers: Shannon White and Leslie Cherry2AB (S1523146): June 15th –19th 9:00–3:30 $375Paper Marbling Workshop (entering 7th – 12th grade)Students will learn about the ancient art of paper marbling and how to create beautiful pictures by printing off of water. Each daywill consist of a brief lecture and then a workshop session. Topics include European marbling, Turkish ebru, and Suminagashitechniques.
