Spanish ImmersionLake Highland’s 2015 Spanish Immersion opportunities are designed to advance a student’s second language comprehensionand fluency. Studies reveal that immersion in a second language changes brain processing patterns and strengthens criticalthinking abilities. In today’s connected global culture and economy, students find being proficient in a second language anadvantage when travelling, studying abroad in college, or embarking on global careers. This summer’s language immersionofferings are the beginning of a growing Summer World Language Immersion Program with plans for additional languagesbeing added each summer!Spanish Immersion (entering 7th-12th grade)Travel the Spanish-speaking world without leaving Orlando! Come join us for a weeklong linguistic and cultural immersion inSpanish that will take you beyond the walls of Lake Highland. With the goal of speaking only Spanish throughout the week, wewill learn about art, film, travel experiences, cuisine, and market shopping, as well as explore Mexico’s pavilion at Epcot Centerand more. Each topic discussed will be centered on a mock trip to different Spanish-speaking countries. No need to bring yourpassports, just your passion for Spanish!
