Advanced Composition Online 0.5 credit (entering 10th–12th grade)Course #1009300Are you an independent learner? Can you successfully meet deadlines? Do you enjoy working at the computer? If you answered inthe affirmative, then the LHPS online composition course could be a good choice for you. While the “live” classes should be yourfirst choice, if your schedule does not permit attendance at these sessions, the online option might be your answer! This courseofficially begins June 9th, but you are welcome to begin as soon as exams end. The close of the course is Thursday, July 2nd.Here’s how it works: Once accepted into this course, you will have a preliminary meeting with your mentor teacher for anoverview of the class and to receive class materials. At the end of the class, you are required to take the final exam on campus. Allassignments must be submitted according to the agreed-upon course timetable or your enrollment will be dropped. Part of thecurriculum for this course includes learning to meet deadlines! All work must be finished by the end of the course, July 2nd.Prerequisite: Students enrolling in this course should be capable of independent work, consistent in meeting deadlines, and havereliable access to the Internet.All students enrolling in Online Advanced Composition must, along with their parents, agree to the following statement, whichis located in the online registration: I understand that all assignments must be submitted electronically by the dates due and that theon campus test must be taken on one of the scheduled dates. All materials and hard copy projects must be turned in on the test day.I will have Internet access for the duration of the course. The class is a hands-on experience and the students will engage in a variety of field trips to enhance the experience.Session I (S1515312): Tuesday, June 9th–26th 8:00 – 2:00 $900East Asian Studies Honors 0.5 credit (entering 11th–12th grade)Course #2109345This course highlights the geography and regional differences of China, Japan, and Korea, including their philosophicaland political systems, and East Asia’s role in the world today. Students will examine the history of East Asia and how the pastis influencing the present. Emphasis will be placed on arts, religion, politics and economy. Research and writing are integralrequirements of this class, providing students the opportunity to explore chosen topics in depth.
