1,EV.ALLAN SIMPSON, Presbyterianclergyman, Halifax,N.S., was born February25th, 1841, at Prince Edward Island.His parents were Alexander Simpsonand Eliza McNeil. His ancestors wereamong the first settlers of that island.Mr. Simpson received his primary educationin Truro, N.S., pursuing his artscourse in the Presbyterian Seminarythere, and his theological course in thePresbyterian College, Halifax. He wasordained August yth, 1866, at the Gore,Hants County, N.S. His whole lifehas been devoted to the ministry, andhe has been pastor of his presentcharge for twenty-five years, which isone of the longest pastorates any ministerhas had in the city of Halifax.During his long association with hispeople, neither his interest in them,nor their love for him have in anysense decreased, but on the contraryhave increased as the years have goneby. Mr. Simpson is also a member ofthe North British Society, and hasbeen clerk of the Halifax Presbytery,for twelve years. He was married, Julynth, 1872, to Miss Jemima MaryStuart, daughter of the Rev. AlexanderStuart. He had two children, one isnow living, and attending college.
