He is the son of Peter A.Masse and Julie Benoit, both of St.Cesaire, P.Q. He received his earlyeducation at St. Cesaire, at the Collegeof the Holy Cross, and continued it fortwo years at St. Mary's College, fouryears at St. Lawrence College, Montreal,Que., four years at St. Joseph College,Mernramcook, N.B., and graduatingfrom the latter institution, wasordained to the priesthood in Montreal,April 1 5th, 1884. He was then sent toGrande Digue, as curate, and afterserving the church in that capacity forfour years, was given charge of theParish, in which he still continues.He is a highly gifted and thoroughlyeducated gentleman. His college careerwas marked by an intense applicationto study, and a keen intellectualcapacity for mastering the details of themany difficult subjects with which hehad to grapple. When he entered onhis pastorate, he had a mind well storedwith the truths essential to success inthe work which he had chosen, ''andwhich he has since so faithfully conducted.
