482 ORJAMES TEMPLE FORBES,Contractor and Builder, Moncton,N.B., was born in AlbertCo., N.B., June 24th, 1847. He is tneson of J. W. Forbes, of Halifax, N.S.He was educated in the schools ofNova Scotia, and then learned the drugbusiness, after which he worked inBoston, Mass. Returning to Monctou,he was engaged in the dry goods businessuntil 1875, when he becameaccountant and paymaster on theMoncton and Buctouche R'y, thenbeing built, and so continued until theroad was <strong>com</strong>pleted. He then <strong>com</strong>mencedas a contractor, and has socontinued to the present time. He isa member of the Methodist Church, alsoof the Masonic fraternity, was a memberof the Council Board of Moncton forseven years, also of the County Council,and was secretary of the Board ofhealth for a number of years, and atpresent (1893) is a member of thatbody. He is a Conservative, and formany years was secretary of the ConservativeAssociation of the Monctondistrict. In December, 1872, he marriedMiss Elizabeth, daughter of IsaacHenderson, of White Haven, England.He has had seven children, two of whomare now living.
