JVTENOKJOHN C. MEAHAN, M.D.,Bathurst Village, GloucesterCounty, N.B., was born at thatplace, February ist, 1859. His parentswere James and Bridget (Donnelly)Meahan, natives of County Tyrone,Ireland. The former was a merchantin connection with his brother'svery extensive ship business. Hisuncle, John Meahan, was member forthe County of Gloucester for a numberof years, before Confederation. Dr.Meahan received his early education atthe Bathurst schools, and then wentto St. Joseph College, Memramcook,N.B., from which institution he graduatedin 1878. He then began thestudy of medicine, with Dr. Duncan,for one year, after which he enteredMcGill University, Montreal, graduatingfrom there in 1884, with thedegrees of M.D., C.M. He then commencedto practice his profession inhis native place, and has worked up avery large connection. He was married,November 2ist, 1879, to DeliaM., sister of Rev. Father Dixon, ofNewcastle, N.B. In religion, Dr.Meahan is a Roman Catholic, and alsobelongs to the C.M.B.A., and is examinerto the same, also of severalleading insurance companies.
