467EORGE EDWARD LOUD, DryGoods Merchant, Farnharn, Que.,was born May 27th, 1850, in the parishof Merevale, Warwickshire, Eng. Hisparents were John W. Loud and JaneAlcock, who were descended from oldand distinguished families of Warwickshire.Mr. Loud was educated at theAtherstone Grammar School, where hespent five years. He served an apprenticeshipwith John Wilkins, dry goodsmerchant, Coleshill, Eng., where he remainedfour years. He afterwardsengaged with Holiday & Co., of Newstreet, Birmingham, where he remainedone year. He then came to Canada,and shortly afterwards went toMichigan,U.S., afterwards returning toMontreal, and spending one year withA. A. Murphy & Co. In 1874, he removedto Farnham, and entered intopartnership with J. W. Loud, whichpartnership existed for seven years.Mr. Loud is now in the enjoyment ofa good cash business, and stands highin the estimation of the public. Inpolitics, he is a Conservative, and inreligion, a member of the EpiscopalChurch. He also belongs to the I.O.O.F. He was married in June, 1876,to Miss Frances E. Allen, of Farnham,Que., daughter of J. S. Allen.
