464 IVIENHE RIGHT REVEREND AN-DREW HUNTER DUNN, D.D.,Lord Bishop of Quebec, Quebec, P.Q.,was born October i6th, 1839, at SaffronWalden, Essex, Eng. He is the son ofHannibal Dunn, Esq., Town Councillorand Mayor of Saffron Walden, Essex,and Mary Ann Hunter, eldest daughterof the Right Hon. William Hunter,alderman, Sheriff and Lord Mayor ofLondon. After school life and a residenceof nearly two years at Hiedelberg,Germany, and a year's experience ofbusiness in the city of London, he proceededto Corpus Cbristi College, Cambridge,Eug., where he obtained a Mawsonscholarship, in 1860,and a Manners scholarship,in 1861, and, graduating as29th Wrangler, in January,1863, he obtained his B.A.degree. In 1866, he becameM.A., and in May 1893, hisuniversity gave him hisD.D. He is also an honoraryD.D., of the Universityof Bishop's College, Lennoxville.He was ordaineddeacon, in St. Paul's Cathedral,by the Right Rev.Archibald Campbell Tait,Lord Bishop of London, onTrinity Sunday, 1864, andwas advanced to priest'sorderson the same day in thefollowing year. He workedas curate of St. Mark's,Notting Hill, London, W.,from 1864 to 1870. Hewas curate of St. Mary's,Acton, London, W., from1870 to 1872, and Vicar ofAll Saints', South Acton,from 1872 to 1892, when hewas elected by the DiocesanSynod, to be Bishop ofQuebec, and by his zealand activity in the cause ofthe church, has well sustained thename which he had made for himself.Bishop Dunn is a member of the S.P.G.and S.P.C.K., and was a member of the<strong>com</strong>mittee of the London Diocesan LayHelpers' Association. He is the authorof the following works " : Our ChurchManual," " Holy Thoughts for QuietMoments," " Helps by the Way, orPrayers for Children " and " Our onlyHope," for those who have been confirmed.He was married, in 1866, toAlice Hunter, only daughter of WilliamHunter, Esq., of Purley Lodge, Croydon,Surrey. His family consists offive sons and two daughters.
