P.P. and S. of Glasgow,practicing physician and surgeon, Calgary,Alberta, was born on the iQth ofAugust, 1858, at Goderich, Out. Hisparents were Rev. Alexander and Julia(Brown) Mackid. His mother was bornin England, while his father was anative of Caithness, Scotland. Dr.Mackid received his primary educationin the public and High schools ofGoderich, and subsequently took aregular course in the University ofToronto, and graduated from the To-Heronto School of Medicine in 1879.then practiced his profession at Lucknow,Ont, for three years, and atSeaforth, Ont., for four years, afterwhich he proceeded to Europe, andpursued his studies for some years inEdinburgh, Glasgow, London, Paris,Hamburg, Vienna and Berlin. Fora time he was also a pupil of JamesStewart, professor of diseases of thenervous system in McGill College,Montreal, Que. After returning toCanada, he removed west, and commencedhis profession in Calgary earlyin the year 1890, where he has since remained,and is now in the enjoyment ofa large practice, and is muchrespected by all classes,both for his professionalskill as well as for his socialworth. He is now (1893)president of the MedicalAssociation of the North-West Territory, also a memberof the council of C.P. &S., and a coroner for theNorth-West Territory. Healso belongs to the A. F. &A.M., I.O.O.F. and I.O.F.In religion, he is a Presbyterian.He was married,January loth, 1881, to MissMathilda, daughter of L. G.Meyer, clerk of the Court atSeaforth, Ont. His familyconsists of one son. Whenat Seaforth, Ont., Dr. Mackidwas a member of theTown Council, and is nowa member of the CalgaryHigh School Board. He is amanifold man and seemscapable of doing manythings with distinguishedsuccess. He is a thoroughstudent and keeps abreast ofthe age in all that concernsmedicine and surgery.
