454 MEN CANADA.,EV.FATHER MICHAELALEXIS O'KEEFE, Rector5) of the Church of Assumption,Grand Falls, Victoria County, N.B.,was born at Chatham, N.B., July i6th,1865. His parents were William andElizabeth (Delaney) O'Keefe, the formerbeing a native of the County ofCork, Ireland, and the latter of Chatham,N.B. Father O'Keefe receivedhis early education at the <strong>com</strong>monschools of Chatham, and then enteredthe Seminary of Quebec, and took hisclassical course, graduating from thatinstitution with honors, after which hereceived his theological course at theGrand Seminary, Montreal. He wasordained at Montreal, December iQth,1891, by the Archbishop of Montreal,and given charge of the parish ofGrand Falls, which includes the parishesof Drunimond, St. Anne's Church,Tobique Point, and other outlying missions.The Church of Assumption,at Grand Falls, was begun in 1882,and in 1885, was ready for worship.In June, 1892, Father O'Keefe becamerector, succeeding the late Rev. J. J.O'Leary. It is one of the finestchurches in the diocese, the interiorbeing beautifully fitted up. FatherO'Keefe ispopular with all classes.
