453. G. D. WEAVER, Disciple,Pastor, Church of Christ, Montague,P. E. I., was bornApril 3rd, 1866, at Weymouth Bridge,Digby County, N.S., where his parents,William C. and Sarah (McAlpine)Weaver, still reside. His paternalgreat-grandfather, was a staunch U.E.Loyalist, an officer in the Revolutionaryafter itsWar, and settled in Weymouthclose. The subject of this sketch, atthe age of twenty-one years, matriculatedfor the University. In 1887, neentered Kentucky University, and graduatedin 1891, in which year he wasalso ordained, after which he spent oneyear in evangelistic work in Ontario,chiefly in Hamilton and Blenheim,with marked success. In 1892, Mr.Weaver, on invitation, went to Montague,his present charge, where blessingscontinue to follow his earnestlabors, a large number of additionshaving been made to his church in hisfirst year. It is one of the leadingchurches in P.E.L Mr. Weaver is amember of the I.O.G.T., and takes anearnest and active interest in everyin the onegood cause, but especiallyto which he has decided to give all histime and talents. Earnest and eloquent,we predict for him a brilliant future.
