OK CANADA. 449THE LATE REV.EBENEZER-*ROSS, Presbyterian Minister,Truro, N.S., was born July 22nd, 1824,at West River, Pictou County, N. S.His father was the Rev. Duncan Ross,who came from Scotland, and was oneof the pioneer Presbyterian ministersof Nova Scotia. Mr. Ross received hiseducation at Pictou Academy, andGlasgow University, Scotland, and wasordained to the ministry in 1849, a ^Upper Londonderry, where he remainedfor nearly thirty years. He afterwardsremoved to Truro, N. S., where he resideduntil his death, June I5th, 1891.In 1875, Mr. Ross was chosen Moderatorof the first General Assembly of thePresbyterian Church in Canada. Illness,however, prevented him from assumingthe duties of that honorableposition. His entire ministry wasmarked by great earnestness and a devotedattachment to the people amongwhom he labored. He was an ablepreacher of the Gospel, always doingmuch to promote the moral and religioussentiment of the <strong>com</strong>munity in whichhe lived, and his demise closed a mosthonorable and successful life. He wasmarried in October, 1853, to Margaret,daughter of Wm. Matherson, Esq. Hisfamily consists of one daughter, living.29
