.MEN/CLINTON JAMES MORSE, M.D.,I Amherst, N. S., was born Feb-^^-*^^ ruary loth, 1840, at thatjoyment of a very large and successfulpractice. His marked success is theresult of his professional skill, and theplace. He is the son of the Hon. Jaines careful attention which he pays to allShannon Morse, brother of Judge W. cases. Dr. Morse belongs to the Masonicfraternity, is a member of theA. D. Morse, also of Amherst. Dr.Morse was educated at Amherst and College of Physicians and Surgeons ofLower Horton, Kings County, N. S. the ProvinceHe of Quebec, also of thebegan the study of medicine with Medico-Chirurgical Dr. Society of Montreal.Benjamin Purdy, of Amherst, after He is Coroner for the County of Cumberland,N. S., and held the position ofwhich he went to Edinburgh University,where he graduated in 1862. He then Assistant-Surgeon in First Regiment,settled in Amherst, N. S., where he remaineduntil 1875, when he removed to an Episcopalian. Dr. Morse was mar-Cumberland Militia. In religion, he isMontreal, but returned to Amherst in ried to Miss Mary Boggs, in1878, where he still remains, in the 1871. Heen- has three daughters and one son.

He was a In 1886, the firm of Norton Bros, dissolved,and Mr. Fennell succeeded Mr.man of sterling integrity, and highlyesteemed, but is now deceased. Mr. R. E. H. Norton in the business. In June,B. Norton was not favored with a goodeducation, but he has made 1892, Mr. Norton bought out his partner,and has since continued the busi-the bestness as R. B. Norton & Co.In December, 1892, he wasburnt out, but bought thesite and immediatelyrebuilt,and now has a finerstock than ever and one ofthe best fitted hardware establishmentsin the Dominion,the volume of thebusiness aggregating about$65,000 a year. Mr. Nortonis a typical businessman, whose forte is hardwork, and as such <strong>com</strong>mandsuniversal respect. In religion,he is a Baptist, andin politics, a Conservative,an active and influentialworker in his party. He isa member of the I.O.O.F.,and has had all the honorsin his lodge. In 1892, lietook a prospecting trip tothe Pacific Coast, returningvia the United States. September3rd, 1884, Mr. Nortonmarried Margaret Lawsou,daughter of the lateStephen McCallum, Esq.,of Brackley Point, P.E.I.,by whom he has four daughters.
