MKN OR CANADA, 445JOHN T. McKENZIE, MerchantTailor, Proprietor of the StarTailoring Establishment, Charlottetown,P.E.I., was born October ist,working1854, in Strathalbyn, P.E.I. His parents,John and Catharine (McDonald)McKenzie, are highly esteemedresidents of that place. Mr. McKenziewas educated at the schools of his birthplace, and at the Desable GrammarSchool, and at fifteen went to learn histrade, at which he afterwards worked politics,for some years as a journeyman. In1879, ne went into business on his ownaccount. From 1881 to 1887, he tra-thein the best establishments ofthe larger cities, gaining in this way athorough knowledge of the business.In 1887, he returned to Charlottetown,and went into business with Mr. JamesMcLeod. This partnership lasted sixyears, when Mr. McLeod retired, andMr. McKenzie became the sole proprietorof a large and steadily increasingbusiness. In religion, he is a Presbyterian,and holds the office of elder. Inhe is a staunch Liberal. Heis also a member of the I. O. O. F.November i5th, 1888, he was marriedto Mary, daughter of the late DonaldMcDonald, Esq., of Rice Point, P.E.I.
