CANADA.JOHNDRINNAN, Editor andProprietor of the MedecineHat Times, was born in Montreal,Que., October 4th, 1862. His parentswere W. C. and Isabella (Keith)Drinnan, both Scotch. Mr. Drinnanreceived his education at the Penetanguishenepublic school, the St.Catharines Collegiate Institute andQueen's University. He then taughtschool six years in Ontario, after whichhe removed to Manitoba, in September,1883. In 1884, he leftWinnipeg, withCol. Dennison as a Canadian voyageur,to join the expedition for the relief ofGordon, on the Nile. On his returnhe settled in Medecine Hat, Assa., wherehe taught school for four years. Hesubsequently bought the Times, froma local <strong>com</strong>pany, which he continuesto conduct very successfully. Asidefrom the large circulation of the paper,the 7^imes job department is largelypatronized, and all the appointments ofthe enterprise are on the best modernscale. In religion, Mr. Drinnan is aPresbyterian, and in politics, an Independentwith Conservative leanings.He is also a member of the I.O.O.F.and A. O.K. societies. He was appointedMeteorological Observer, inAugust, 1891, at Medecine Hat.
