JVIEN CANADA.433JOHN JAMESWEDDALL,Dry Goods Merchant, Fredericton,N. B., was born at Pictou,N.S., July 6th/ 1845. His parents wereRev. Richard Weddall, of Yorkshire,and Mildred West, of Lincolnshire,Eng., who came to this country in1842. Mr. Weddall received his earlyeducation in Nova Scotia, and then enteredMount Allison University at Sackville,N. B., (itthen being known asSackville Academy), graduating withfirst-class honors in 1862. He thenremoved to Fredericton, and enteredthe dry goods business in the employof the late George Pattison, and subsequentlywith the late Thomas Logan,and on the death of the latter, in 1881,he purchased the business and premises,and has made very extensive alterations,and his establishment is now oneof the leading dry goods firms in NewBrunswick, and is still increasing. Mr.Weddall was married, in 1873, to JuliaLouisa, third daughter of the late Geo.Hatt, Esq., of Fredericton. His familyconsists of one son and one daughter.In religion, Mr. Weddall is a Methodist,and holds the offices of recordingsteward and assistant-superintendentof the Sabbath School. In politics, heis a Conservative.28
