They were both also taught school in Mount Pleasant,of Irish descent. Mr. Spencer spenthis youth and Highland Village and Nappan, inearly manhood on his summer hisvacations. He was ordained,father's farm. At the age of seventeen,he professed conversion, and in thatyear he also represented his SabbathCollege four years, Princeton Theo-school at the Maritime Convention heldin Summerside, in 1872. He attendedPictou Academy one year, DalhousieOctober 2nd, 1884, at Georgetown,P.E.L, and then inducted into thecharge of Georgetown and Montague,to which he ministered until 1888,when Montague was, by the Presbytery,made independent, with Mr. Spencerpastor. When ordained, the chargelacked organization, but intwo years this was greatlyimproved, and in 1886, above214 were added to the roll.The present charge has increasedin membership fourfold and financially threefold, with <strong>com</strong>plete organization.It is needless to saythat Mr. Spenceris a hardworker, an earnest andfaithful pastor. He is aclear, forcible speaker. Ini89O,he was moderator of theP.E.I. Presbytery, appointed<strong>com</strong>missioner to theGeneral Assembly at Toronto,in 1889, and in Brantford,in 1892. He hasbeen connected with theI.O.G.T. at intervals forsixteen years, and is atpresent High Chaplain ofthe High Court of theI.O.F., for P.E.I. January7th, 1884, Mr. Spencer wasmarried toMary E., eldestdaughter of Joseph Peppard,of Great Village, N.S., bywhom he has three childdren,two sons and onedaughter.
