414 IVIKN OF"JAMESMcCON-NELL, M.D., C.M., PracticingPhysician and Surgeon, Morden,Man., was born September a8th,1 86 1, in North Renfrew County, Ont.His parents were Benjamin and Catharine(Melville) McConnell. Aftertaking his regular course in the Pembrokepublic and high schools, he enteredthe Royal College of Physiciansand Surgeons, Kingston, where he graduatedin the Spring of 1880. For sixmonths before and six mouths aftergraduation, he was assistant surgeon onthe C.P.R., from Pembroke toIn Nipissing.November, i88i,he removed to Nelson,Man., where he carried on a successfulpractice, until 1885, when he removedto Morden, where his connectionis constantly increasing. Dr. McConnellwas one of the founders of theMorden Masonic Hospital, of whichorder he is a member, and also of theA.O.U.W. He is examiner for thelatter society, Coroner for the Province,and health officer for the municipality,In religion, he is a Presbyterian,and a Reformer in politics. He wasmarried, November i9th, 1884, toMiss Cassie P., daughter of James H.Fraser, late of New Glasgow, N.S.,now of Morden, Man.
