378 CANADA..SAMUELPOLSON, Pastor,Presbyterian Church, Hartney,s> Man., was born September25th, 1847, in the Kildonan Settlement,near Fort Garry. His parents wereAngus and Anne (Henderson) Poison,who were also born in that place, andwhose ancestors came from Scotland.Mr. Poison was educated in the parishschool of Kildoaan, after which heworked for a time on the farm. Heentered Manitoba College, Winnipeg,in the Spring of 1871, and graduatedin arts, in 1875, and in theology, in1878. He then took the session of1878-79, in Knox College, Toronto, andwas ordained, at Winnipeg, in January,1880. He was in the mission field atMillbrook and Clear Springs, Manitoba,for six years, then at Nelson,Man., for four years, and was appointedto his present charge, in October, 1890.The church at Hartney, when Mr. Polsontook charge of it,was new andweak, but under his pastorateit hasgreatly prospered, and may now betermed strong. He is thoroughly devotedto his work, and good resultsfollow from his labors. In 1888, he wasmoderator of the Rockford Presbytery.He is D.D.H.C.R. of the I.O.F., andin politics,is an Independent Reformer.
