364 M.BN ORLVIN DETTLER CARSCAL-7C^f\ LEN, M.D., Physician andV^) Surgeon, Morris, Man., wasborn May 2yth, 1860, in Lennox County,Out. His parents, Craig and Catherine(Dettler) Carscallen, were of U. E.Loyalist stock, but are now deceased.After leaving the public school. Dr.Carscallen attended the Napanee andBelleville High schools, after which heentered the Manitoba Medical College,at Winnipeg, from which he graduatedin the Spring of 1888. Since that timehe has practiced in Morris, and has beensuccessful in working up a large andhighly satisfactory practice. In October,1892, he started a drug store inMorris, which he now conducts inconnection with his practice. In religion,the Doctor is a Methodist. Hebelongs to the A.F. & A.M., A.O.U. W.,and is Chief Ranger in the C.O.F. Heis also physician to the N. P. Ry. Co.,and numerous societies and insurancecompanies. In politics, he is a Conservative.Dr. Carscallen deservesgreat credit for the manner in whichhe has fought through his studies inthe face of ill and constantly failinghealth, but he is now strong and vigorous,and gets through a wonderfulamount of work.
