\\/ILLIAM JAS. LEWIS, M.D.,V V M.P.P., Hillsboro, Albert Coun-OK CANADA.the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh,with the degree of M.R.C.S.E.ty, N.B., was born at that place, September25th, 1830. He is the son of and <strong>com</strong>menced to practice at Hillsboro,He then returned to New Brunswick,Hon. John Lewis, M. L. C. whose where he has since remained, having afather and grandfather came to this very large and lucrative practice. Incountry with the U. E. Loyalists, in 1878, he entered the1783, and political field, andLavinia Taylor, a native of was elected to represent the County ofHillsboro, of Irish descent. Dr. Lewis Albert in the interests of the Conservativeparty, and has continued to holdreceived his early education at Hillsboro,and then Sackville Academy. the office since that time with the exceptionof one session, he was for a timeHe then studied medicine at the Universityof Glasgow, Scotland, graduatingfrom there also with first-class Government, until its defeat in 1883.member of the Hannington - Landryhonors and the degree of M.D., in 1855, Dr. Lewis has been an important factorin the history of New Brunswick,and the same year also graduated from and especially of AlbertCounty, for nearly fortyyears. During this long periodthe public have had thebenefit of his medical skilland able statesmanship.In either case the peoples'interests have always receivedable and satisfactoryattention. He belongs tothe I. O.K., and is courtphysician for Court Hillsboro,is a member of theMedical Association of NewBrunswick. He was alsoSchool Trustee for a numberof years, and is Coroner forDr. Lewis hasthe county.been married twice :first, in1877, to Milessa, daughterof E. E. Steves, Esq., postmasterof Hillsboro, andagain in 1885, to Catharine,daughter of John Duffy,Esq., Hillsboro. His familyconsists of one daughter.Dr. Lewis' father was amember of the House ofAssembly for nearly fortyyears, where he was a strongsupporter of the Conservativeparty.
