358 OKALGERON SILVAWHITE, B.A., Incumbent ofSt. John's Episcopal Church,Carman, Man., was born December9th, 1866, at London, Eng. His parentswere Edward Fox and Julia(Silva) White, his father being of Englishand his mother of Spanish descent.His father was a prosperous generalmerchant in London, Eng. Mr. Whitewas educated at the Kensington Grammarschool, London, under the lateRev. Dr. Ackland, and at a privateschool of Rev. Dr. Dawes, in Surrey.In 1885, he came to Canada, and settledat Shellmouth, Man., where he taughtschool for two years, and in which callinghe was very successful. He thenentered St. John's College, Winnipeg,graduating in Theology and Arts in1893, with first-class honors. He wasordained deacon May 28th of that year.During his college course, Mr. Whitewas lay reader in Canon Pentreath'sparish for over three years. He is amember of the Sons of England andthe Masonic Order. In politics, he isa Conservative. Mr. White was married,August 2nd, 1893, to Miss LilianSt. Martin. He ispossessed of considerablenatural musical talent, and isexceedingly fond of the art.
