MEN^TN AVID HOUSSER, Beamsville,I Out., retired farmer, was bornJune 8th, 1818, in LincolnCounty, Ont. He is the son of Samueland Catharine (Hoch) Housser. Hisfather was born in Pennsylvania, in1782, and his greatgrandfather was alsoborn in the same state. Mr. Housserwas educated in the schools of his day,and his educational advantages werefew, but he improved his opportunitiesoutside of school, and is a well informedman. He has been a member of theMunicipal Council and School Board, anumber of times, and active in politicalmatters in the interests of the Liberalparty.In religion, he is a Methodist,and has been class leader, local preacher,an active member of the TrusteeOfficial Boards, and was recordingsteward for many years. Mr. Housserwas married, October 17, 1843,t AnnaGross, daughter of Jacob and AnnaBechtel Moyer Gross, who came fromPennsylvania and settled in the Townshipof Clinton, County of Lincoln,Out., early in this present century.He has seven children living,:namelyIsrael, G., Salome, John H., Winnipeg;Gideon B., Portage La Prairie; Susan,married and living at Thorold;IsaacWesley, Winnipeg; and Annie Jane.
