Mr.298 ORTTRCHIBALD E.SPERA, Whole-3~\ sale Merchant, Winnipeg, Man.,VS> was born Aug. Qtn, 1849, inWentworth County, Ont. His parents,William and Sarah Ann Spera, werefarmers, well-to-do, and held in universalesteem. Mr. Spera was educatedprimarily at. the <strong>com</strong>mon school, andthen at the Hamilton Collegiate Institute.During his early manhood, heworked on his father's farm, and afterwardsentered <strong>com</strong>mercial life as a" knight of the grip," which occupationhe followed for sixteen years. On the.i3th December, 1877, Spera enteredinto partnership with Mr. Cornell,which partnership has been continueduntil the present. They do a very extensivetrade in gents' furnishings,to the Pacificetc., from WinnipegCoast, and are well known as a reliableand honorable firm. The wholesalehouse of Cornell, Spera & Co. hasworked up for itself, and deserves, theexcellent reputation which it bears.Mr. Spera belongs to the A.F. & A.M.,in which order he is Master Mason.In religion, he is an adherent of theMethodist Church, and in politics is aLiberal, and an active and influentialworker in the ranks of his party. Heis married.
