^KRED. WILLIAM DREWRY,MEN:295brewers and bottlers of that city. InOj Winnipeg, Man., was born 1Aug. 88 1, he removed to Winnipeg, enteringhis brother's business in the same6th, 1855, at Newport, Eng. In 1857,his father left England for America, line, where he has since remained, andbeing followed by the rest of the family has be<strong>com</strong>e very popular in businessin 1860, in which year they located in as well as in social circles. He belongsto the A. O. U. W., A. O. U.D.,St. Paul, Minn., U. S. A., where Mr.Drewry, sr., has resided since, being K. of P., St. George's Society, WinnipegRowing Club, Winnipeg Cameraone of the best known and most highlyrespected citizens of that city. Mr. Club, Winnipeg Lacrosse Club, St.Drewry was educated at the public George's Snowshoe Club, St. John'sschools of St. Paul, Minn., and the Tennis Club, and is a member and vicepresidentof the Liberal-ConservativeBusiness College there, after which hetook the management of his father's Association, a director of the Winnipegbusiness until 1876, when he became a Lacrosse Club, a director and one ofmember of the firm of Drewry & Son, the promoters of the Home Buildingand Savings Association ofWinnipeg. He takes an activepart in all politicalquestions, and has beenpressed to stand for parliamentaryand civic honors,but has so far declined. Heisgreatly interested in allthat pertains to the businessand social interests of theManitoban capital. He ispossessed of a very genialtemperament, and being aready and successful originatorof legitimate sports andamusements, has be<strong>com</strong>e afavorite among his fellows.In religion, Mr. Drewry isa member of the Church ofEngland, and holds the officeof auditor of St. John'sCathedral, Winnipeg. Hewas married, in 1881, toGussie E. Kiefer, daughterof Col. A. R. Kiefer, of St.Paul, Minn., who is at presenta member of Congressfrom that district, and hasbeen for many years one ofSt. Paul's most prominentcitizens. Mrs. Drewry diedin 1885.
